Want to buy some local tidbits and snacks back from Penang?
Head down to Georgetown in Penang today to get these delicious souvenirs for your loved ones, whether they are for the ones who love to snack/are too lazy to cook.
There are many places selling it but I like to visit this particular shop in Georgetown Chowrasta Market called Tuck Kee, since I will definitely visit Chowrasta Market for all the good food and local hidden gems when I’m in Penang.
Tuck Kee is just opposite the famous Chowrasta Market, you can see their big logo with beautiful lanterns hanging!
Of course, most of the popular items here are related to pork. Pork Dried Meat, Pork Floss, Pork Chinese Sausage and etc.
If you are not into pork, they also sell chicken, from chicken dried meat, chicken floss to chicken chinese sausage and etc.
Want to get some chinese tea? They have lots of choices here too. Most of it is aged Pu Er Tea from Yunnan, old collection of pu er tea.
Look at the crowd, it’s always crowded, but not as crowded as those biscuit shops.
Their stocks clear fast by people and what you get is always fresh.
Of course, if you don’t have time to visit Chowrasta Market, you can get such stuff at Tuck Kee Pulau Tikus branch too. And we noticed they have a Chinese New Year Festival booth in Sunshine Farlim too, but not too sure is the booth still available after Chinese New Year.
One of my favourite other than those pork related products is this Chinese Foie Gras Sausage. It’s so soft and melt in the mouth the moment you put into the mouth yet so delicious. Must buy items for those who loves to cook!
Their crispy pork floss is also a very delicious snack, A crispy and natural smell from the field with shredded pork. One of the favorite asian snack which is very addictive, you are warned! A very suitable snack or gift to your love once. It comes with a reusable tote when we purchased up to certain amounts I guess.
Another type of pork floss which is more suitable to pair with bread, dry, subtly sweet and satisfyingly crispy, it’s easier to digest than the Crispy Pork Floss, yet not too soggy as to be unable to deliver that crispy oomph!
I bought many small packets of each items, the taste of the sweetened pork flavour, coupled with the crispiness, true addictive goodness. They make an awesome pairing with beer, and a delicious souvenir to take back and enjoy whilst chilling with your friends!
THANK YOU FOR THE WRITE UP FROM MISS ELANE!
